Jerome Ersland Sends Birthday Letter To Friend, Describes Life In Prison

The former pharmacist convicted of murder is giving us a glimpse of his life in prison.

Jerome Ersland sent a birthday letter to one of his friends and major supporters, Karen Monahan.

Ersland said in the letter,

"It's a little difficult being in solitary with no electricity (No TV, hot coffee, etc.) and not being able to get outside, even somedays, they let me into the dayroom for an hour & let me get a shower... I was locked down 24/24 from Nov. 4th to Nov. 10th. They said they had forgotten about me. Just knowing you are out there always gives me hope."

A jury found Ersland guilty of murder for shooting and killing a would-be robber in 2009. Attorneys representing Ersland has filed papers to appeal his murder conviction.
