During the arraignment, federal attorneys called Mitchell "a flight risk," although they did not provide evidence as to why the indictment alleges Mitchell had international ties to Costa Rica, and is accused of participating in a money laundering operation with a corporation known for offshore betting.
Mitchell's attorney Scott Adams calls the number of counts against his client "devastating."
Meanwhile, Mitchell's sons Dryden Mitchell and Billy Nick Mitchell, also entered not-guilty pleas to the federal charges against them, including allegations that they each had roles in poker games such as dealers, bankers, and greeters.
Both Dryden and Nick were released on Monday. They will be staying with their mother in Oklahoma City. Mitchell will be here again for a detention hearing at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday.
