Ready Or Not: Time For Food

I went to weigh Gage this week and I thought something must have been wrong with the scale. When I took him to the doctor 3 weeks ago he weighed 14.1 pounds. The scale this time said 14.4. Had he really only gained 3 ounces in 3 weeks? He nurses well and seems overall a happy baby. So I moved the baby scale and tried again. And sure enough, it said he had only put on a few ounces. Being the (somewhat obsessive) researcher that I am, I knew a baby his age would gain on average 4 ounces a week. So I went ahead and called the doctor and he said he probably should have put on a little more weight and now is the time to introduce cereal.

I Was Warned He'd Be Wearing More Than He'd Actually Eat And that was the truth! I didn't think he liked the cereal at all. I mixed it up with milk but he just reared his head back in disgust. So I fully expected to get the same reaction when I tried feeding him this afternoon. But this time he reminded me of a baby bird! He just kept opening his mouth wanting more. In fact, I had to go and mix some more cereal up for him because he finished off the first bowl. It is such fun to see him experience new things. I can't wait to watch him try vegetables and fruits for the first time and see which ones he likes and which ones he spits out just as quick as he can take in.

Update On Sleeping Through The Night:

I guess he technically is now sleeping through the night. However, waking up at 5am is not exactly sleeping through the night in my book! He goes to sleep really good at about 8pm. And last week and the week before he would sleep in until 7am. When that happened, I jumped out of bed so excited the clock said 7! But the last 3 days he's given me early wake up calls. I just have to remember that it's A LOT better than waking up every 2 hours to feed him like the good 'ole days!
