An Oklahoma City man who was arrested on Sunday, accused in the shooting death of his son, has been released from jail, according to police.

Robert Depew, 78, was arrested on a complaint of 2nd degree murder in the death of his son, 50-year-old John Depew. Monday afternoon, he was released from the Oklahoma County jail and the complaint was dismissed, police said.

Oklahoma City Police responded to the shooting at a home located at 408 NW 89th around 5:30 p.m., Sunday, July 1. Officers located Robert Depew inside the home. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators believe that some type of fight occurred between the father and son that ultimately led to the shooting. Depew told police he was forced to shoot and kill his own son out of fear that he was about to lose his life.
