Three firefighters were injured as they battled huge flames Monday afternoon at a northwest Oklahoma City strip mall that houses a large flea market and other businesses.

Two firefighters treated on the scene with minor injuries and one was transported to the hospital in good condition. All three have been released Monday night.

Firefighters have shut down N.W. 10th Street is shut down between Tulsa and Meridian while they try to extinguish the fire.

Crews were called to the building at N.W. 10th Street and Vermont around 2 p.m.  after people reported smoke coming from the roof of the building.

The blaze started as a small fire on the roof and spread to a third of the strip mall in a matter of minutes. Flames engulfed the roof and put off a column of black smoke that could be seen miles away.

At least 15 units responded to the fire. Because of the intensity of the fire, crews had to go into defensive mode. Crews stayed out of the building and fought the fire from outside.

The fire was so intense the roof eventually collapsed.

Firefighters are trying to prevent the flames from spreading to the rest of the building. They asked the water company to boost the water pressure so they could better fight the flames.

It's not known yet what started the fire.

The building was once the home of Hobby Lobby's third store.
