News 9 first broke the story about a deadly shooting in northeast Oklahoma City at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Police spent the evening investigating two crime scenes. One of those scenes was where police say a man was shot to death at 11805 N. Air Depot Blvd. The other scene was at the Flying J truck stop at I-35 and NE 122nd Street where witnesses say the shooter went after the shooting.

Around 6:40 p.m. Wednesday, police carried a man out of the truck stop to a waiting squad car more than two hours after a 911 call was made to report the shooting. Police say that shooting turned into a murder about two miles east of the truck stop. From one crime scene to the other, police stayed busy working the homicide in northeast Oklahoma City.

When the man taken into custody was asked if he killed his son, he told News 9, "I don't know … I shot him, I know that."

Neighbors say the man believed to have killed his son is named D.E. Neighbors also say D.E. and his son did not have the best relationship.

"The last few months, it was splintered, at best," neighbor Mike Woodward said. "[On Wednesday] afternoon, the police were on my driveway, and I walked down and they said that there had been a homicide … that the dad had killed the son."

Police say they received a 911 call around 4:30 p.m. from the Flying J Truck Stop. The caller reported a shooting that happened just east along Air Depot Road.

"Officers responded to [the home] and located one victim deceased in the house," Sergeant. Jennifer Morris of the Oklahoma City police department said.

Neighbors say they are learning details from police.

"He had drove up to the truck stop … and went in and told somebody that he had shot his son," Woodward said.

Witnesses say Dee stayed in the truck stop restroom with officers for a long period of time before police carried him out of the building as he was seated in a chair

"Fathers and sons argue, obviously, but you never think it's going to come to murder," Woodward said.

Neighbors say only the father and son lived in the house on Air Depot Blvd. and both were homebound with health issues.
