DAVIS, Oklahoma -- If you have a sweet tooth, then you are in for quite the treat. Located in the heart of the Arbuckles, Arbuckle Mountain Original Fried Pies, is the can't miss destination if you are headed south on I-35. Handmade, just like her grandmother used to do, Nancy Fulton, also known as the Fried Pie Lady, is the genius behind the company's 28 flavors of pie.
Tender, flaky and as big as ever, Fulton's special recipe is one she learned from her grandmother. Tried and true since 1893, Fulton's grandmother began making pies to supplement the diets of local ranch hands. Although beautiful, the winters in the Arbuckle Mountains were quite cold and unforgiving. To help keep their minds off the misery of the weather, Fulton's grandmother decided to do something special for the men. She made home cooked fried pies, and the rest, as they say is history.
Anyone who has not yet tried one of Fulton's pies should come to expect quality and service, next best, to your own grandmother's. If you like your pies hot and fresh, then give her wonderful team four minutes, and they will make one especially for you in your choice of flavors. From fruit and cream, to even meat pies, there is a little something for everyone. All pie fillings are made fresh daily and folded into one of Fulton's famous fried pie crusts.
Arbuckle Mountain Original Fried Pies is located just off exit 51 near Davis. If you do not plan on traveling south anytime soon, then you are in luck. Head over to 3721 50th Street, at 50th and Portland, to satisfy your sweet tooth. Fulton's delicious and delectable pies are served up hot and fresh seven days a week from 7am until 7pm.
