Saturday Marks 25th Anniversary Of Edmond Post Office Massacre

EDMOND, Oklahoma -- This Saturday marks the 25th anniversary of the Edmond Post Office Massacre.

On August 20, 1986, gunman Patrick Henry Sherrill shot and killed 14 co-workers and wounded six others before taking his own life.

Sherrill had worked at the downtown Edmond post office for more than a year and thought he was being treated unfairly.

Gene Bray was one of the victims who survived that day, but remembers the shooting like yesterday.

"And it just…oh, god, it just paralyzed me and I couldn't control myself. And so I knew I'd been shot," Bray says.

Bray says he can still remember that disturbing moment.

"I can still see that moment of him bringing that gun up to me and I'll never get that out of my head," Bray says.

The infamous nightmare went down in U.S. history as the largest number of people fatally shot in a single day up to that point.

A bronze statue still sits outside the post office in memory of the victims.
