SHAWNEE, Oklahoma -- Firefighters will remain on the scene of a fire in downtown Shawnee for several hours to make sure it doesn't flare up again.
Fire crews rushed to 107 E. Main Street around 1:00 a.m. Thursday. Flames were sweeping through an antique store called LoCo's. It sits in a historic block of buildings.
Shawnee called in off-duty firefighters, as well as crews from Tecumseh and Bethel Acres to help battle the blaze. They were able to contain the fire to LoCo's, which was destroyed. Businesses on either side of it sustained water damage.
Several business owners told News 9 they were extremely grateful to firefighters because the flames could have easily consumed the entire block if not for their hard work.
No one was hurt in the fire. Firefighters don't know yet what started the blaze. They will stay at the scene all day to monitor hot spots.
