Federal Grand Jury Called To Investigate Husband Of Murdered OKC Woman

OKLAHOMA CITY -- Sources close to a federal gambling investigation have confirmed a federal grand jury has been called to investigate Teddy Mitchell.

Mitchell is the husband of Julie Mitchell, a woman who was beaten to death in her northwest Oklahoma City home in 2010. The case is still unsolved.

Sources told News 9 the federal gambling investigation into Teddy Mitchell has been ongoing for several years, but his wife's murder cast new light onto the case. In March and April, Mitchell and his sons testified before a multicounty grand jury investigating Julie Mitchell's death. One of Teddy Mitchell's friends and gambling associates was also called to testify, but chose to plead the Fifth on advice from his attorney.

News 9 has learned the purpose of the federal grand jury is to pin down the major players in a local gambling ring.
