OKLAHOMA CITY -- Oklahoma City Police are investigating the homicide of a 16-year-old Douglass High School sophomore.
Officers found the body of DeAntwon Johnson in Diggs Park at N.E. 23rd Street and N. Coltrane after someone reported it to 911. Officials are not identifying the caller but said it may have been a family member.
Oklahoma City police said they are still trying to figure out a cause of death.
Police said it is too early to call the homicide gang related.
DeAntwon's step-grandfather admitted the teen had some trouble with gangs, but said he was trying to turn his life around.
"He was a real good kid. Good personality," Harold Curtis said. "He had started the school, doing everything right."
Relatives said DeAntwon had a young son.
Tierney Cook, the spokeswoman for Oklahoma City Public Schools, said the district will release a statement about DeAntwon's death Friday morning.
