OKLAHOMA CITY -- Right now, the Seminole County Sheriff's office has one of the suspects involved in Tuesday's multi-county crime spree booked in as a John Doe.
Seminole County D.A. Chris Ross said they are working on getting fingerprints to identify the unnamed suspect.
"He had no ID on him and he gave a false name to deputies at first and that name did not check out," Ross said. "He then gave another name, but it also did not check out so we have him booked in as a John Doe while we try to identify him."
Tuesday, the Pottawatomie County Sheriff's Office identified that suspect as Jason Masieo.
Now OSBI investigators and the Seminole County Sheriff's Office are trying to track down his true identity, which is not only causing a hassle but a delay in the investigation
"Because of so much of what went on yesterday requires a lot of investigative work and immediate follow up, things of that nature, we've had to assign some investigators who would normally be doing that work to try to focus on identifying who he is," said Stan Florence, Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation spokesperson.
Besides looking for a name, investigators are also trying to determine a motive.
The D.A. said they have positively identified the second suspect as 46-year-old Robert Cardenas of California. He was captured along Highway 9 in Norman after leading deputies and police on a high-speed chase.
Ross said both suspects will be facing a long list of charges when they go before a judge or magistrate on Thursday for Tuesday's cross-county crime spree, including but not limited to shooting with intent to kill, carjacking, robbery with a firearm and robbery by force and fear.
The crime spree started in Konowa with the beating and carjacking of a man, then went into Maud where they held up and carjacked ladies in front of their church, and ended in Tecumseh where they pair are accused of exchanging gunfire at a local pharmacy and carjacking a father and son.
"Right now it looks like we are going to file charges in Seminole County, but we haven't ruled out the fact that in the future if we need to file charges in another jurisdiction we'll do that as well," Florence said.
Both men are being held without bond.
The OSBI should have their probable cause affidavit ready to present to the D.A. and the judge Thursday morning.
