NORMAN, Oklahoma -- Oklahoma Memorial Stadium in Norman has been the site for hundreds of football games, a few commencements, and a couple of rock concerts.
But this weekend it will become a movie theater.
The OU Athletic Department will present the 1955 movie version of "Oklahoma!" on the stadium's big screen.
It's part of OU's "Year of the Fan"-- a way of saying thanks to Sooner supporters.
Admission is free, and people may bring blankets and sit on the grass on Owen Field. Folding chairs will not be permitted.
"There's nothing more near and dear to the hearts of Oklahomans than Curley and the story of Oklahoma, and it's got this little song in it that everybody kinda knows," said Charlie Taylor with OU Sports marketing.
Concessions will be at throwback prices. Popcorn and sodas will be sold for $1.
Gates will open at 5 p.m. Saturday, and the movie starts at 6:30 p.m.
