OKLAHOMA CITY -- Oklahoma Attorney General Drew Edmondson has filed a motion in Oklahoma District court to intervene in the ongoing dispute between the charity Feed The Children and its founder Larry Jones.

For more than a year, Jones has been at odds with the charity he founded more than 30 years ago.

Last November, Jones was fired as director of Feed The Children amid accusations of eavesdropping and taking bribes.

"Feed the children knows that they have made unfounded and unsupported claims against Mr. Jones," said Mark Hammons, attorney for Larry Jones.

Last week, Jones' term on the board of directors was not renewed. Jones also filed a motion last week asking the attorney general to intervene so he could get an account of the agency's finances.

"If the attorney general doesn't intervene, I'm concerned that the IRS will come and take away Feed The Children's 501c3," Jones said.

In a motion, Attorney General Edmondson said there are "accusations of misuse of the charity's property, assets and/or trusts." He goes on to state that his office "has the duty to see that the public's interest is protected and properly executed."

Feed The Children released as statement saying they welcome the attorney general's involvement in the case, and they believe he will find as disturbing as they did the questionable actions of Larry Jones that the board of directors has been investigation for the past two years.

"I think it's nonsense to think that Mr. Edmondson is going to find any problems with Mr. Jones. Mr. Jones asked the attorney general, Mr. Edmondson, to become involved," Hammons said.

Since both sides have no objection to the attorney general stepping in, all that's left if for the judge to rule, which both sides said they believe will happen soon.

Jones also has a separate lawsuit against Feed The Children for wrongful termination.
