OKLAHOMA CITY -- There's a new way to stay connected in case of severe weather or breaking news. It's called Mobile Alert 9. Email alerts have been available from News9.com for more than a year and a half, and now those alerts can be sent to your mobile phone.
There are several alerts from which to chose:
The headlines are sent at 8 a.m. and 3 p.m. weekdays, and weather alerts can be customized by county.
The weather alerts are sent for tornado and severe thunderstorms. The sports alerts will be coming soon but those include both high school and college. You can sign up for updates on your favorite team.
It doesn't cost anything to sign up, but standard carrier rates apply.
News9.com will not send out any texts before 7 a.m. or after 11 p.m., so you shouldn't worry about getting any texts during the night except in the case of a significant, life-threatening event.
