OKLAHOMA CITY -- Food Network's hottest star Guy Fieri rolled through town this week to feature some Oklahoma restaurants in his show "Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives."
In his favorite '67 Camaro convertible, Guy Fieri, the spiky, blond-haired cook, crosses the country looking for good food and Tuesday he stopped in Ingrid's Kitchen.
"It's not just about great rye bread, like we're going to get a chance to experience here at Ingrid's. It's about the life inside of this and this is Americana. This has such a cultural backbone to everything we do," said Food Network Host Guy Fieri.
Behind the scenes of the popular primetime show, Guy goes inside the kitchen learning what's behind Ingrid's creations.
"Eating is so much more of an experience emotionally with all your sight, your smell and your taste," Fieri said.
A six minute segment on "Diners, Drive-ins and Dives" can take up to 20 hours to film. For the local hot spots that make the cut like Ingrid's, business will rise.
More on Guy Fieri and the Food Network Show:
"I mean the stories that people write in and tell us, about what it did for their biz. 'We were close to closing down.' 'We have three mortgages on our house.' 'Our kids weren't going to school.' Just heartbreaking," Fieri said.
In and out of eateries hundreds of days each year, Guy said the show's emotional reward is worth the time away from his own restaurants in California.
"Getting a chance to take the all-American people and say 'Look at what this guy does. Look how hard he works'. It's a beautiful thing," Fieri said.
Guy hit up some other local restaurants including Cattleman's, Eischen's, The Diner in Norman and Mama E's.
