Oklahoma City - Griffin Communications won several awards Friday night from the Oklahoma Association of Broadcasters for Outstanding Achievements in 2008.
Griffin Communications includes both NEWS 9 in Oklahoma City and NEWS on 6 in Tulsa.
NEWS 9 was represented by meteorologist Michael Armstrong and Mason Dunn, who accepted a first place award for Spot Weather for the coverage of Tornadic Events of May 24, 2008.

Gary England, not present to help in accepting the award, was also responsible for the excellent meteorology broadcasting that took place during severe weather May 24.
The Consumer Watch Team, comprised of Amanda Taylor and Rich Kriegel, was given a first place award for Franchise Reporting. Kriegel was present during the awards ceremony and accepted the award.

NEWS 9 at 10 p.m. was given a first place award for Evening Newscast, which is produced by Nathan Elliott.
Director of Statewide Online Content, which oversees News9.com and Newson6.com, Blaise Labbe accepted the award on behalf of Elliott.
NEWS 9's sister station, NEWS on 6 in Tulsa, was given the following awards:
