OKLAHOMA CITY -- JoAnn Burnett, a 14-year-old veteran of the Oklahoma City Police Department, is expected to be charged after a domestic fight broke out between her and husband, Officer David Burnett.
According to the police report from December 5, police arrived at the couple's home. Both David and his wife suffered injuries stemming from the fight, and a gun was fired by one.
"It certainly escalated," Chief Bill Citty said. "Thank goodness no one was seriously injured."
In May, the Burnetts' were involved in another domestic fight. JoAnn Burnett reportedly suffered injuries to her face, cuts to her noise, and swelling around her eyes.
Neither officer was found guilty of a crime, but the department continued to investigate the incident.
According to News 9's Legal Analyst Irven Box, the officers could face stiff consequences.
"Based on two incidents in six months, there are probably...serious repercussions through the department," Box said.
Cleveland County's Defense Attorney Greg Mashburn office said JoAnn Burnett will likely be charged with a crime Tuesday.
Police Chief Citty said the department is conducting its own investigation.
