PIEDMOND, Okla. -- Piedmont police recovered 24 weapons that were reported stolen August 24 from a metro home.
Benjamin Grant Matthews was arrested in connection to the crime, authorities said. Police believe he was attempting to sell the stolen weapons.
"There was information on the streets that the guns were trying to be sold," Chief Jerry Koester said. "We talked to various people to track the person down to where he was located."
The guns ranged from collector's items to semi automatics and until Sunday, they were under lock and key inside a safe.
The 27-year-old has had previous convictions, including burglary and possession of paraphernalia, weapons with defaced serial numbers and controlled dangerous substance.
Matthews was taken into custody at NW 115 and Randwick.
Matthews father is the head of personnel of Oklahoma County.
