Delaware County Couple Charged With Murder; Accused Of Filming Victim's Death

A Delaware County couple is charged with murder after investigators say they injected a woman with meth and then videotaped her death at their home near Disney. Investigators said she was seen on that video repeatedly asking for help, but 911 wasn't called until an hour after she died.

Deputies said 41-year-old Melissa Vermillion took her last breath at the home of Brian and Allie Anderson, who have been charged with her murder.

"According to Mrs. Anderson, she and Vermillion were friends for a long time," Delaware County Sheriff Harlan Moore said. "Like, since they were 8 years old."

Court documents said the Andersons injected Vermillion with a large amount of methamphetamine and then videotaped her as she died.

"A fairly substantial amount of methamphetamine had been used," Moore said. "We recovered a video camera that was used, and actually was used in the video taping of this lady's death."

Vermillion died in October of 2017, but Moore said it took a confidential informant coming forward in recent months to confirm their suspicions, and ultimately led to the charges.

"The video didn't show anything," he said. "All it showed was the victim. Didn't show anything else."

"We needed a little bit more," he continued. "And when the C.I. came forward, it filled the gaps of some of the things in the investigation, and made it clear that's what had happened."

The affidavit said the investigation led deputies to believe the Andersons murdered Vermillion so she couldn't testify against them in other cases.

Sheriff Moore said the Andersons are already awaiting sentencing in a drug trafficking case. Now, they're waiting for the court process to get going in this case, with their first hearing coming up next month.
