The OSBI is now investigating a suspicious death after a man’s body was found in some woods near Colcord.
The sheriff’s office said the victim was reported missing this weekend. Yesterday, they said the man’s son found his body.
Now the OSBI said his death is suspicious.
“I didn’t sleep at all last night,” said a neighbor, who asked to not be identified.
She said she is terrified after deputies discovered a body so close to her home.
“It’s really bone chilling to think about something less than a mile from your house,” she said.
The Colcord Police chief said 37-year-old Dustin Girdner, of Cherokee City, rode his motorcycle to Colcord with his wife Saturday.
The Chief said at one point the two parted ways.
On Sunday, Girdner’s family reported him missing.
“I tried to turn down the road here and it was blocked off, and that was suspicious,” the neighbor said.
Investigators said on Monday Girdner’s son found his body in the woods next to his motorcycle.
“I know the people that live here, they’re all shaken,” the neighbor said. “The more details we get the more shaken we get.”
The sheriff’s office is asking for anyone with information about Girdner to reach out.
“If anybody knows anything about his last whereabouts or his death, contact Delaware County Sheriff’s Office or the OSBI,” said OSBI Public Information Officer Brook Arbeitman.
People in Colcord simply hope their community, and Girdner’s family, get answers soon.
“If they need anything, the town of Colcord is here so let us all know,” the neighbor said.
The OSBI said they have already interviewed several people, including family members but so far there are still unanswered questions and no arrests have been made.
