5 Charged In Broken Arrow Burglary That Ended With 1 Suspect Shot

Police say five suspects have been charged in a burglary on Thanksgiving morning that ended with one of them being shot by the homeowner.

Police are not releasing the name of the man who was shot, right now because he is still in the hospital. They say he will be arrested once he is released. Police also say they expect to make more charges in the case as well.

Ana Gonzalez is still shocked that she heard gunshots in her neighborhood.

"It sounded like fireworks,” she said.

"We had an officer that was in the area driving down Kenosha and heard them," said Broken Arrow Police Officer James Koch.

Police say a group of people kicked in the front door at a home near North 31st Street and Kenosha but the homeowner got his gun and fired and hit one of the suspects.

"As soon as entry was forced, someone from inside the house began shooting at them," said Officer Koch.

Officers say they found the suspect who was shot at the scene, two more were in the neighborhood and three at businesses nearby.

"Officers located two of the subjects at a nearby car wash and found a third one hiding close to that carwash," said Officer Koch.

"To hear this happening, it's scary because a lot of kids are here too," said Gonzalez.

Police arrested Sean English, Dalton Turney, Zachary Turney, Trenton Slade and Steven Snider for robbery and conspiracy to commit a felony. They expect charges will also be filed against the injured suspect and a seventh.

Police searched the victim’s home to see if there was any reason the suspect’s picked it.

"With it being Thanksgiving it's one of those things where all of the people involved in this case were investigating this case, they weren't at home with their families. We are very fortunate to have such a good team," said Officer Koch.
