Hominy Teen Reports Attempted Abduction

Police are looking for a man after a teenage girl said she was nearly abducted Tuesday. They said it happened in the area of Walnut and Pettit Avenue just before 8 a.m.

Hominy Police and the school district are telling parents to have a little more caution with their children after a high school girl said she had a close call while walking to school.

"He pulled up behind her, parked in the street and yelled to her to 'come here,' and she made a couple steps toward the truck," said Hominy Police Chief Michael Martin.

That's when police said the driver opened the driver's side door of his white pick up and grabbed the 18-year-old by the hood of her sweatshirt.

"She said she made a fist and said to leave her alone and was able to break his grip from her shirt," Martin said.

The student described the suspect as a tan-skinned male, 20-30 years old, bald head with a dark, bushy beard. The truck was described as a newer white pickup, possibly two doors.

"The first thing she did was tell the principal, and he notified police," said Doyle Edwards, Hominy Superintendent. "We do have councilors on staff that come visit with kids as needed."

Chief Martin says, "I pretty much rely on the public's help.  Any information I get I put on social media."

"We will keep more of an eye on kids during recess and transitioning during classes, but the police work very well with our school, so I think we're happy about that situation," said Edwards.
