Interstate-40 is back open after a van crashed and caught fire, killing one person and injuring four others near Okemah.

The crash happened just outside of a construction zone involving a truck leaving the work zone and a van passing through.

The burned wreckage of the van blocked the westbound lanes of I-40. Troopers said the van belonged to the U.S. Department of Energy and had five of their employees aboard.

The impact collapsed the front end of the van, but other drivers were able to get the passengers out before it burned.

One died at the scene, the other four were hurt.

Troopers said the people in the van were heading to Amarillo from a training class at Camp Gruber.

The dump truck belonged to an out-of-state company and was involved in a construction project just a few miles from the scene of the accident.

Troopers said the dump truck driver went to a hospital as a precaution but wasn't hurt.

The highway patrol said it's too early to determine if he might be charged with causing the accident.
