The Honor Flight took off Tuesday morning at about 6:45, with Fire Station 51 providing a 2-water-cannon salute.

A total of almost 160 people are in Washington right now, if you include chaperones, known as guardians, and staff members.

News On 6 caught up with veterans from all three wars represented, including a Purple Heart recipient who served in Vietnam and says back then, he kept his service in the war a secret.

"I come back and went to college and there were three of us Vietnam vets. And none of us talked to each other, didn't know that we'd been in Vietnam or anything. It … it's not like that now," said Jaydee Maples

The public is invited to attend their welcome home celebration at the Tulsa Airport Tuesday night at 9:30.
