It may be raining out, but that's not slowing down district openers.
Owasso and Union battled in the weather to get an early lead in District 2 in 6A-1
The rain was persistent throughout most of the crucial district showdown on Friday. Both teams had a bye week to figure things out after 1-2 starts so who's adjustments paid off tonight?
Owasso Ram's Head Coach Bill Blankenship said before the game he wanted to see improvement on the defensive side of the ball. Union's Darius Boone had other ideas offering up a 47 yard TD run putting Union up 7-0.
Next possession Boone manages to get outside again and goes in for another touchdown run to make it 14-0 Union.
Owasso defense gets it going in the 2nd quarter and forces a fumble on Peyton Thompson which is recovered by Matt Lor down inside the 30
Union's defense up to the task though as Will Kuehne is sacked.
The 3rd quarter saw more from Boone, this time it's 54 yards clear to the house.
Union wins 21-0.
So it's Union off to a strong start in district. Owasso now a 1-3 looking for answers on how to improve.
