A man is dead after Oklahoma Highway Patrol troopers said he experienced a medical episode while driving Wednesday morning, September 19. Troopers said the man was westbound on Highway 62 five miles east of Fort Gibson when his SUV went off the road into the tree line.
OHP said they were notified of the wreck at 9:52 a.m.
The SUV rolled, ejecting the elderly driver, News On 6 Storm Tracker J.D. McManus reports. The victim has been identified as 79-year-old Clentis Jarrard of Muskogee. Troopers said he died as they were transporting him to the landing zone to board a medical helicopter.
Clentis was alone in the SUV, troopers said.
An OHP collision report released Wednesday afternoon said Jarrard was not wearing a seatbelt.
The collision report also states Jarrard' condition before the wreck and the cause of the collision are unknown.
