A Tulsa mother who police say admitted to stabbing her 11-year-old daughter more than 50 times was scheduled for a hearing in court Monday.

The hearing for 29-year-old Taheerah Ahmad was quickly rescheduled for 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, September 5 in Tulsa County District Court.

Taheerah Ahmad waived her preliminary hearing on Tuesday, August 7th.

Ahmad's attorney called the decision “strategic,” in an effort to keep all of their options open in the case.

Court records show Ahmad’s 9-year-old daughter told police her mother had been holding her and her two sisters hostage for a week.

Police say Ahmad told them she bound the girls with tape to restrain them and, when her 11-year-old daughter got free, she admitted to stabbing her 50-70 times, hitting her in the head with a pickaxe, and then setting the house on fire.  Investigators say the 9-year-old was able to escape the house and call 911.

Ahmad took a third daughter with her, prompting an Amber Alert.  Police found the 8-year-old with Ahmad in a parking lot in the Tulsa Arts District. The little girl wasn’t hurt.

Ahmad is facing several charges including child neglect and assault and battery with intent to kill.
