A man is in critical condition after Tulsa Police said he was shot Wednesday morning.

Several neighbors called police after they saw the man lying in the middle of the street near Apache and Lewis.

Patricia Stevenson said her brother saw the victim, James Thomson, go to their front door then stagger off down the street. She said they didn't know he had been shot until they walked out and saw blood at their doorstep.

"He watched him because he was on our porch around the front of the house for several minutes," Stevenson said.

The victim collapsed near Xyler and Yorktown. A few neighbors, including Stevenson's brother, called police.

"The person said they saw a subject that appeared to be spitting up blood," Captain Malcolm Williams said.

An officer said the victim told him he was shot by his cousin. They said they didn’t much more information, other than his cousin’s name was Phillip.

Police canvassed the neighborhood but did not find a shooting scene. Officers said they did find some blood trails where the victim was walking, trying to get help.

Stevenson said it's all a shock for their quiet street.

Joseph: “You say you've lived here 50 years and never seen nothing like this?”
Patricia: “Never."

Detectives said they plan to talk with the victim once his condition improves to find out more about the shooting.
