Rogers County deputies arrested 6 people Wednesday in a drug bust they say targeted teens at a local high school.
The sheriff's deputies made the arrests just a couple of blocks from Sequoyah schools and they said that was key because the operation was supplying marijuana to several schools in and around Rogers County
It was social media posts that confirmed suspicions of investigators about drug dealing in Rogers County.
Deputies had many tips about a house on 4180 Road, claiming it was the hub of several marijuana dealers. The house was described as a "party house" for teens in Rogers County.
A search warrant turned up marijuana, cash and cell phones investigators say were used for the operation.
“The quantities and the distance they were going to get the product, they were literally moving pounds of marijuana,” said Sheriff Scott Walton.
Deputies made 6 arrests at the house and four of them were either 18 or 19 years old; Trenton Basks, Daniel Cowan, Bradyn Remund and Ryan Woods.
Investigators believe they were key to the marijuana sales at the nearby schools.
“I'd call it a kid-run operation. The operators of this deal range from 18 [to] 20. The scary part of this is that not only were they supplying anybody who wanted weed at Sequoyah High school, Claremore, it goes over into other counties,” said Walton.
Two of the people arrested, Lori Remund and Mario Wamego, are older and investigators say Remund was a foster parent of two children now back with DHS after the drug bust.
Both face charges of child neglect.
The Sheriff believes the arrests and seizure of product and equipment will slow down the drug trade in Rogers County, at least for young people, at least until someone else takes over.
“Younger kids are using harder drugs earlier, and anybody wants to argue, it's just a fact,” said Walton.
Of the four children in the house during the arrests, two were foster children now back with DHS.
The other two are with relatives pending a DHS investigation.
