A tip led to the arrest Monday evening of a prison escapee who walked away from a LeFlore County correctional center last year.

The Department of Corrections says a Tulsa non-profit made authorities aware that 29-year-old Troy Peiffer was using their services under an assumed name.

The DOC says Peiffer was serving time for failing to register as a sex offender out of Oklahoma County when he disappeared on December 16, 2017 from the Hamilton Correctional Center in Hodgen.  The DOC says Peiffer's conviction was out of Pennsylvania.

"This just goes to show that if you walk or run away from one of our facilities, we will find you and, ultimately, arrest you," said ODOC Director Joe M. Allbaugh.

Peiffer is being held in the Tulsa County jail without bond.
