Nathan Harmon has multiple felony convictions, including theft and second-degree burglary.

The Department of Corrections said Nathan Harmon escaped from Jess Dunn Correctional Center in Taft. They said it's likely he's the person who stole the pickup truck of a Muskogee police officer who lives not far from there.

"Everything else can be replaced. My kids can't," said Muskogee Police Officer James Folsom.

Folsom said his kids got home from school just half an hour after the neighbor saw his truck pulling out of the driveway and Folsom wasn't the man behind the wheel.

"That's what kept me up all night, is that thought," Folsom said, "things could've been so much worse if my kids would have walked in on him. There's no telling. We could be doing a completely different story today.”

Folsom said his kids called to say something was wrong.

"Opened the back door to find blood, a blood trail through the house," said Folsom.

He said his mind immediately jumped to Nathan Harmon, the escaped inmate he'd heard about earlier in the day.

"I had them run and check and see if my truck was in the driveway. Sure enough, it wasn't," said Folsom.

Jess Dunn Correctional Center is just a couple miles from Folsom's home.

The DOC believes Harmon, who is still on the run, could be responsible for stealing Folsom's white pickup truck.

"I probably lost five years of my life on that quick drive out here," said Folsom.

Folsom said he's thankful things weren't worse and he urges the public to call the police and not approach Harmon if they see him or the truck.

"People need to know what this guy’s capable of. There's really no limits you can put on him," said Folsom.

The DOC believes Harmon could be badly injured and bleeding from crawling over the barbed-wire fence. If you have any information at all, call the DOC's escapee hotline.
