Crews worked four separate wrecks on a stretch of the Will Rogers Turnpike near Miami Sunday afternoon.
The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says the eastbound lanes were closed for several hours due to a wreck involving two semis and several vehicles. Two other wrecks were also reported in the eastbound direction within a 10-mile stretch.
One of those wrecks involved a 2004 Nissan pickup which was towing a camping trailer. They say it happened at 2:20 p.m.
OHP troopers say the driver, James McMullan, 58, of Pittsburg, Missouri was headed east when they say he lost control on a bridge about 9 miles east of Miami, hit a concrete barrier, went off the highway and rolled three times, coming to rest on the passenger side of the truck.
James McMullan and a passenger, 57-year-old Bridget McMullan were taken to a Joplin hospital and admitted in fair condition.
The OHP says the truck's camper remained on the highway blocking both eastbound lanes. The trooper's report stated the cause of that crash was unsafe speed due to snow and ice on the road.
The OHP say there was another wreck in the westbound direction, but those lanes stayed open.
