About 20 residents at the Tulsa Nursing Center took part in National Senior Health and Welfare Day activities Wednesday, May 31.

Staff designed games to improve cognitive and fine-motor skills, test lung capacity - and just have fun.

“The theme for the 24th annual National Senior Health and Fitness Day is 'With Movement, There is Improvement,'" said Tulsa Nursing Center Wellness Director Jennifer Robinson.

"The games boost their spirits. Some of our residents can only do so many things, but we encourage them to keep moving," she said.

The most popular game was tossing marshmallows at staff members who had cups balanced on their heads.

"They were little marshmallows," said resident Marilyn Holder. "That made it harder."

Tulsa Nursing Center is a senior living community with skilled nursing care and rehab services.
