Tahlequah Police are searching for a man wanted in connection with a shooting that happened Friday afternoon.

Police say it happened near the Cherokee Hill Apartments behind an Atwoods store.

According to the department’s Facebook page, Shane Rose was last seen near Ross and College or the Sequoyah Elementary area so they put officers at the school and searched the area.

Police say Rose is armed with a handgun. He was last seen wearing a white shirt, Khaki pants and a green hat.

Tahlequah Police Chief Nate King said, "I think anytime someone's desperate, or feel like they're in a desperate situation, the danger level goes up, so, to be cautious, yes, I would say if you encounter Mr. Rose you could be in danger, so use caution, retreat to your vehicle or your home. They can call us."

If you see Rose or have any other information, you’re asked to call 911.
