Tulsa Police: Standoff With Man Threatening His Daughter Ends Peacefully

Police said an almost two-hour standoff with a man holding his daughter ended peacefully Wednesday morning.

Officers were called to the Meadowbrook Apartments in the 300 block of South Mingo just after 6:15 a.m. Callers said the man's wife had told them the man was inside their apartment and threatening to harm himself and his 2-year-old daughter. 

Police said after several cell phone conversations with the man, he came outside and was taken into custody.The girl was returned to her mother unharmed.

During the incident, police said Mingo between Admiral and 4th Street was closed to traffic and residents of nearby apartments were ordered to stay inside.

Police say officers recovered a handgun, and the man was taken into custody for a mental evaluation.
