Coweta High School Tiger Pride marching band took first place in the 2016 State Marching Band Championship for Class 5A Saturday night in Mustang. They'll give an encore performance at 7 p.m. Tuesday, October 25 at Tiger Field.
The band also won first place for outstanding music, visual and general effect. Their show is entitled "Lost in the Woods." It's the seventh straight year for the Tigers to be state champions, and the third straight straight year to be named state grand champions.
The Tiger Pride were also class champions at the Owasso Invitational Marching Festival, second in class at The Union Renegade Review, and first in Class and first overall at the Bixby Invitational tournament of Bands.
At the Broken Arrow Invitational Marching Festival, they placed 1st in class and 2nd overall behind the 6A band from Bentonville, Arkansas.
The Coweta Tiger Pride was greeted with a police escort when they returned to Town at 2:00am Sunday morning.
Other Green Country bands included Collinsville at 5th place, Skiatook at 6th, and Tahlequah in 7th place.
