The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says a swift water rescue team saved a man whose pickup got stuck in floodwaters in LeFlore County Monday afternoon.

Troopers told KFSM, the CBS affiliate in Fort Smith, it happened at old Highway 112 at James Fork Creek near Poteau, which was closed because of flooding .  The OHP says witnesses reported the man drove around barricades and into the floodwaters around 11:30 a.m.

Troopers teamed up with the Pocola Fire Department’s swift water rescue team to perform the rescue. Using a boat, the team reached the truck and got the man to safety.

The OHP issued the man a ticket for driving around the barricades
