Law enforcement is searching for a murder suspect who broke out of the Muskogee County jail late Sunday.

Jail administrators say Paul Newberry, 24, of Park Hill escaped with another inmate at about 10:25 p.m. by breaking out a security window, climbing up to the roof, then jumping to the ground.

Deputies say the other inmate, Raymond Noriega, 36, of Wilburton was captured a short time later in Muskogee.  He was being held on a charges of uttering a forged instrument.

Paul Newberry was arrested in late July for the murder of Keys rancher Charley Kirk, 88, during a burglary. Cherokee County authorities say Newberry confessed to the burglary and the shooting.
