Prison officials say an inmate who walked away from the McLeod Correctional Center in Atoka is back in custody.

Oklahoma Department of Corrections spokesman Alex Gerszewski says 58-year-old Onie Chambers walked away from the minimum security facility in Atoka County about 8 p.m. Sunday.

Gerszewski says Chambers was apprehended Monday morning after a rancher spotted him about three miles from the prison.

Prison records show Chambers was serving time for an Osage County conviction for failing to notify authorities of an address change as a sex offender.
