Two inmates who escaped from two separate state prisons on Thursday are back in custody.

The Oklahoma Department of Corrections says Charles D. Brown, 30, walked away from the Jackie Brannon Correctional Center in McAlester.

Brown was serving eight years out of Tulsa County on a conviction for unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.  DOC records show he was scheduled to be released in 2020.

Bobby L. Murphy, 31, also walked away Thursday from the Jim Hamilton Correctional Center in Hodgen in LeFlore County.

DOC says Murphy was reported missing at a 6 p.m. headcount. He was serving a five year sentence out of Harper County for larceny of a vehicle.

Records show he was scheduled to be released in 2022.

Officials say both men were recaptured without incident late Thursday and returned to their prison cells.
