One of the victims in a west Tulsa house fire that injured five people Monday has undergone surgery at the Shriner's Hospital in Galveston.

The family says the two young boys rescued from the home seem to be the most badly injured. Now they are hundreds of miles away, getting treated at a Galveston Shriner's hospital.

Sharon Woods, the aunt of 7-year-old Raiden Pond, said more than 60 percent of the child's body has been burned. He went through a five-hour surgery Tuesday morning and is doing OK but has significant damage to his lungs from breathing in the smoke and toxins, she said.

Raiden is the oldest of three children who were inside the house during the fire. Osage SkyNews 6 HD was up above the scene as firefighters carried the three children and two adults out of the home.

The two boys were carried out first. Chloe is the baby that was rescued. She, along with the children's mother and a man, remain hospitalized in Tulsa.

Investigators say a build up of toxins caused by the fire likely knocked them all unconscious before they could escape.

"It was just awful," Sharon Woods said. "I was just thankful I got there for a few minutes to see him and get to be with my brother a few minutes before they flew him off."

Raiden is a first grader at nearby Robertson Elementary. His aunt says he has a great sense of humor and can make anyone laugh.
