Authorities say a driver brought down a light pole and ended up in a ditch before leaving the scene of the collision early Saturday. Another driver ran off the road trying to avoid the downed pole.

It happened around 6:30 a.m.on eastbound Interstate 244 at the junction with Interstate 44 in east Tulsa.

Witnesses told officers the driver of a van hit the light pole on the on-ramp to I-44 then drove off the road. When Oklahoma Highway Patrol troopers arrived the driver, believed to be a woman, had left the scene.

The driver of a pickup swerved to avoid the light pole that landed on the access road. The pickup went into a weedy ditch on the other side of the ramp.

EMSA medics checked him out but did not take him to the hospital.
