A Tulsa woman stopped for an expired tag was arrested when officers learned she had a felony warrant out for her arrest.
Christy Renee Rhotenberry is charged with assault after authorities say she poked another woman in the eye with a stick. A portion of the stick had to be removed from the victim's eye, according to court documents.
Police took the 28-year-old Rhotenberry into custody Friday, October 31, 2014, after pulling her car over in the 1500 block of East 68th Street. They learned she had an outstanding felony warrant for assault with a dangerous weapon.
Court records show Rhotenberry was at a house party in March when she got into an argument with another woman. She then allegedly stabbed the victim in the left eye with a tree branch, according to an affidavit of probable cause.
"OSU Medical staff removed a portion of the stick that was lodged into (the victim's) eye," the affidavit states. "The stick was collected for evidence."
Rhotenberry claimed the other woman started the fight and that she herself was also injured; however, "she did not seek medical treatment and does not have photographs of her injuries," the record states.
She is in Tulsa County Jail on complaints of assault and battery, driving without a license, no insurance and expired tag. Her bond is set at $15,700.
