Troopers say a man is dead and a 12-year-old child was seriously injured in a rollover crash on 71st Street, east of Broken Arrow Friday evening.
It happened just before 9 p.m., according to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.
The Chevy Astro van was found on its roof on 71st Street, where it meets the Verdigris River at a dead end. An adult male driver was found dead at the scene.
Troopers say Anthony Drahos of Broken Arrow was driving the van westbound on 71st Street when the vehicle left the road to the left and overturned a half time. Drahos, 43, was partially ejected and died of his injuries.
Troopers say a 12-year-old boy, believed to be the son of the driver, was taken by helicopter to an area hospital with a head injury. He is in critical condition, according to a collision report.
Investigators said Drahos smelled of alcohol and was going too fast on a curve. The report states the use of seatbelts is still under investigation.
The Wagoner County Sheriff's Office told News On 6 the call first came out as a possible shooting and that deputies were searching the area, but the Major Gary Handley of the WCSO said there was no evidence to support a shooting.
