An explosion and fire at an oil field tank battery about seven miles south of Bristow in rural Creek County has killed one worker.

The oil tankers were back in a field that's very difficult to get to by car or truck.

Osage SkyNews 6 was able to get a view of the scene from the air.

Investigators say two men were working to stop a leaking tank battery. They were transferring oil from one tank to another when something sparked an explosion.

We know that one person died and the other suffered serious injuries.

The explosion was described as incredibly loud and could be heard several miles away.

Keith Nusbaum lives three-quarters of a mile from the site. He said he heard the blast, which caused the windows at his home to rattle and shake.

He ran to the scene to try and help but said the fire was too intense for him rescue anyone.

The Bristow Fire Department and several rural fire departments were called to the scene.

Nusbaum said the oil company the men work for is based in Texas. They're names have not been released.

We've also learned that OSHA is investigating.
