A Tulsa man was arrested after a witness said he beat a dog to death with a log. James Woodson, 47, was booked into the Tulsa County Jail Sunday night on a felony animal cruelty complaint.

Police say they were called to the 700 block of North Maplewood by a woman who said Woodson killed her dog while she was at work. The arresting officer saw the dog in a plastic bag "with extreme head trauma and blood all around its head."

A witness told the officer she saw Woodson throw a log at the dog which was in the street, not on Woodson's property. She said the dog was hit and stumbling to get up and walk away when Woodson walked over, picked up the log and beat the dog in the head two more times.

Woodson remained in the Tulsa County Jail Monday morning.
