The Sheriff's Office requested assistance from the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation Monday afternoon, after Denver and Martha Holloway were found dead inside their Okfuskee County home.

The couple, ages 54 and 53, lived about a mile west of Boley on Highway 62.

"A ranch hand actually went by the home of the Holloways and could not get them to come to the door, so that ranch hand went to authorities," said Jessica Brown, of the OSBI.

When investigators went inside, they found the bodies.

OSBI says the Holloways' wounds indicate homicide.

An officer at the scene said the couple had been shot.

"I was very frightened, I was like, ‘This can't happen close to our place.' It's just—it's just too tragic," said neighbor Doris Wiebe.

Wiebe has lived next to the Holloways for a few years.

"I wouldn't ever, ever have thought that something like this would happen," she said.

Wiebe said Denver Holloway was a farmer and Martha was always so sweet. She said they were the type of neighbors anyone would want to have.

"Very friendly. She would have a big smile on her face and just wave very heartily. They just seemed like very good neighbors," she said.

Wiebe never heard anything suspicious over the last few days, but said she did notice something odd Monday morning.

"I saw the white truck at home and I was like, ‘What's wrong? He usually wouldn't be home this time of day,'" Wiebe said. "It just would never cross my mind that something like that had happened."

Investigators say they're working several leads.

"Actually, the agent who is on this case is the agent who solved the Weleetka murders, so he's very familiar with that area and has a good rapport with everyone who lives there," Brown said.

It's unclear how long the Holloways had been dead before they were discovered.

Neighbors say the Holloways were renting their home and their son lived with them.

Investigators haven't named a suspect. Anyone with information is asked to call the OSBI hotline at 1-800-522-8017.
