A Tulsa Zoo tiger cub rejected by its mother is moving to a new zoo. Six in the Morning's LeAnne Taylor visited the zoo and has exclusive video of the cub.
The cub named Berani will be headed to the Point Defiance Zoo in Tacoma, Washington next week.
Tulsa Zoo is working with the Point Defiance Zoo who also has a young tiger cub which is just six days older than Berani. Zoo officials say tiger cubs need the socialization with other tigers in order to mature properly.
They say the move from Tulsa to Tacoma is good for Berani.
Down the road, the Tulsa Zoo is working on a new tiger exhibit that will allow cubs to remain in Tulsa. That exhibit is scheduled to open in 2015.
The mother, Jin came to Tulsa in 2011 from the San Diego Zoo. She mated with Tulsa Zoo's tiger, Gahara and this was Jin's first litter.
Since being rejected by Jin, Berani has been cared for by the Tulsa Zoo's vet staff.
News On 6 will continue to cover this story as LeAnne Taylor will travel to Tacoma next week as Berani arrives at her new home.
