Some Tulsa kids are getting a taste of the real world - or at least a version of it.
Students from Briarglen Elementary spent the day at Junior Achievement's Biztown, a miniature version of the big city. This was the grand opening for the new school year - allowing kids to apply classroom knowledge to everyday situations.
They got to open their own businesses, earn paychecks, buy groceries, even pay taxes and vote.
"I think it's the key to what makes America great - is that we have the right to own our own businesses, we have the right to work." said Karen Warlick, director of Junior Achievement Biztown.
The program was introduced in Oklahoma a decade ago, so kids could experience life beyond school.
